OUR Picardy GOURMET GIFT box from the Oise region, A DELICIOUS FRENCH FOOD hamper FOR THE MOST DISCERNING FOODIES

Experience the succulent delights of France North gastronomy, as you eat your way through this fabulous gourmet box.

Delicate sparkling rhubarb drink, non-alcoholic (75 cl)

sparkling-rhubarb-drinkArtisan: Brasserie et Cidrerie de Milly.

Rhubarb is one of Picardy’s most famous crops. You may have had it stewed, in pies or tarts, or as jam or compote. But you probably haven't tried it in an exquisitely delicate sparkling beverage, made by a gifted artisan in Milly sur Thérain.

With no added flavours, concentrates, gluten or alcohol—making it perfect for both kids and adults—this elegant drink really brings out the deliciously sweet tartness of rhubarb. Serve chilled as an aperitif or a refreshing afternoon “cocktail”.

Farmhouse snack courgettes with turmeric (190 g)

picardy-courgettesArtisans: Le Domaine de Scipion, Chantal et Emmanuel Thienpont.

These artisans make all their condiments the old-fashioned way, with fruit and vegetables they grow themselves or purchase from trusted local farmers: you can taste the quality in every bite!

Like sophisticated pickles with a refined flavour, these courgettes seasoned with turmeric are ideal for snacking or serving with a raclette or terrine.

Miss Virginia’s savoury, crisp and tasty artisanal linseed biscuits (100 g)

artisanal-linseed-biscuitsArtisan: Cœur de Picardie, Virginie Coin.

Prepared with tender loving care at our artisan’s workshop in Crèvecœur-le-Grand, these small, delicate, crunchy biscuits are sure to delight you and your guests: the perfect way to begin exploring your Picardy gourmet hamper.

Crunchy golden artisanal crisps with the sweet aroma of caramelised Roscoff PDO onions (125 g)

french-artisanal-crispsArtisan: SoChips, Stéphane et Julie Gérard.

Stéphane has always had a passion for potatoes. Born into a family of farmers, he and Julie decided to start a business in Compiègne, the heart of Picardy and cradle of French potato production. Their project is as authentic as they are: genuine homemade crisps made from 100% locally grown potatoes with a truly amazing flavour. Of course, to obtain truly superior crisps, they need to carefully select the potatoes, but the real secret lies in how they’re prepared.

The thick potato slices, cut by hand, are cooked slowly in a pot in small quantities, drained, lightly salted and seasoned with the natural flavours of France, using no additives. Making good crisps is that simple—and that complicated. Taste the difference!

Surprising and delicious carbonnade flamande with wild boar (450 g)

carbonnade-flamande-wild-boarArtisan: Picardie Venaison, spécialiste de viandes de gibier sauvage Olivier Dewaele & Marc Agnès.

Picardy is also a land of vast forests that have long been a favourite with hunters. Our artisan based in Compiègne has invented recipes that put the local abundance of game to good use.

We were bowled over by this carbonnade flamande with a Picardy twist: instead of the traditional Flemish recipe, where chunks of beef are stewed in beer, this dish contains tender pieces of wild boar, giving it plenty of character and incomparable flavour.

Simmer over low heat in a saucepan and serve with, say, a side of homemade crisps.

Organic artisanal crunchy biscuits with dark chocolate and roasted hazelnut praline (140 g)

biscuits-artisanaux-bio-picardieArtisan: La Pierre qui Tourne, biscuiterie artisanale et Bio de Picardie, Isabelle et Benoit Amiel.

All-natural ingredients—certified organic, of course—and an emphasis on fair trade for the exotic notes combined with fabulous artisanal savoir-faire.

Isabelle and Benoît bring us these delicious biscuits where the intensity of dark chocolate meets the sweet praline of roasted hazelnuts. Too tempting to resist!

“Le Petit Coeur de Picardie”, tender mini muffins in apple brandy from the northern orchards (90 g)

petit-coeur-picardieArtisan: Cœur de Picardie, Virginie Coin.

And to end this tasty tour of Picardy in style, we present the “house speciality” of our artisan, winner of the Best Terroir Product in 2009 and the “Terroirs de Picardie” label in 2010.

These small heart-shaped cakes are baked the old-fashioned way and soaked in apple brandy at 29º. The brandy is made with apples from the orchards of Crèvecœur-le-Grand, the artisan’s hometown. The perfect treat to serve with coffee, tea, dessert or even a sorbet (preferably apple-flavoured). Simply scrumptious!

Bon Voyage to Picardy!
