What a pleasure it is to be able to take you on a tour of the Anjou region with our Maine et Loire gourmet basket, to help you understand why Joachim du Bellay, in his collection of poems Les Regrets, so extolled the "softness of Anjou"... The mild climate, the diversity of soils, the richness of the alluvial soils of the Loire and the expertise of its artisans make Anjou a unique region offering a magnificent variety of gourmet products: early produce, fruit, mushrooms, asparagus, meat and poultry, not to mention wines and liqueurs. There are more than 20 AOCs in Maine et Loire alone...
Happy are those who, like Ulysses, have made a beautiful voyage... But especially happy are Gourmet box subscribers who are about to make a beautiful gourmet voyage to Anjou!
Contents of our gourmet basket of Anjou gastronomy from Maine-et-Loire:
- Anjou Grande Réserve red wine - matured in oak barrels - 2022 (75 cl).

In stock
A gourmet basket filled with products from small, authentic Angevin producers in Maine-et-Loire that will take you on a voyage of discovery of an extremely rich, varied and high-quality culinary production. Anjour truly abounds in an impressive wealth of gastronomic delights!
Winemakers: Domaine des Galloires, Exploitation Viticole Familiale, Famille Toublanc.
Domaine des Galloires is located on the edge of Anjou and at the gateway to Brittany, enabling it to produce a wide range of wines, from Crémant de Loire to Anjou, Malvoisie and Muscadet.
For 7 generations, the Toublanc family has been cultivating vines on the Ancenis hillsides overlooking the Loire - offering visitors magnificent views - using integrated farming methods, taking great care to implement the best practices for obtaining healthy, delicious wines: fertilizing the soil with manure directly from their cattle herd, favouring natural grassing, reducing the use of sulfites to the minimum necessary for wine stability, temperature-controlled fermentations, gentle grape pressing... All these good practices are reflected in the glass.
We offer you their cuvée Anjou rouge Grande réserve, made from old vines of Cabernet Franc - the region's great red grape variety - with well-integrated barrel ageing.
This wine has a complex, smoky nose of mocha and vanilla, and a full, characterful palate with notes of black fruit and silky tannins. Enjoy it with red meats, cheeses and game, or with the duck stew in your Anjou gourmet basket.
Serving temperature: 15-17º
Artisan charcutier: Les Treilles Gourmandes, Antoine Boucher
Located in Anjou Bleu, a part of Anjou named for its bluish slate mines, our artisan has been delighting us for 3 generations with delicious gourmet products based around duck.
Here, we offer an elegant, fragrant terrine where the richness of the duck blends with the freshness of orange zest and the subtle notes of Cointreau (a locally-invented liqueur) that reinforces the citrus touch.
A refined blend of fruity sweetness and character, ideal to enjoy as a starter or aperitif on a small slice of bread!
Artisan-grower: Langevine Bio, organic growers Frédéric and Laura Poupard .
We couldn't pass up asparagus in Anjou, but we needed a competent artisan.
Maison Langevine has been producing and working in organic agriculture (certified by the ECOCERT label) for 3 generations. All the vegetables in their creations are certified organic, picked when fully ripe, and produced and cooked in-house. Here, simply prepared pickle-style, you'll find asparagus in all its delicacy.
Asparagus is an excellent source of minerals, folic acid (vitamin B9), potassium, copper, calcium, iron and phosphorus. Rich in insoluble dietary fiber and vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6 and C), asparagus is the ultimate dietary vegetable. Why deprive yourself?
Artisan charcutier caterer: Les Treilles Gourmandes, Antoine Boucher
A refined simmered dish where the tenderness of duck blends with the deep flavors of a red Anjou wine.
The meat is gently cooked in a sauce, seasoned with herbs and vegetables, for a generous, fragrant and typically gourmet dish. You can accompany your meal with a small glass of our Anjou Grande Réserve wine. A guaranteed delight.
Les Bocaux à Papa, Conserverie Artisanale Bio, Pierre et Julien
Les bocaux à papa is the story of Pierre and Julien, two dads who wanted to eat healthily even when they had little time to do so. So they decided to get into the kitchen to concoct healthy, gourmet dishes, always there when we asked for them and with a real eco-responsible touch: truly local raw materials from organic farming in Maine-et-Loire, with the sole exception of raw materials that can't be found in the region.
We were tempted by different gourmet options, but we had to make choices, and this compote, in which the meeting of apple and geranium flower is so finely achieved, completely convinced us. It's good, fine and organic to boot!
Les Bocaux à Papa, Conserverie Artisanale Bio, Pierre et Julien.
Pierre and Julien couldn't find any cocoa beans in Anjou, but they took care to prepare their homemade chocolate cream with cocoa from the benchmark for organic and fair-trade chocolate: Kaoka.
Made with local whole milk, it's once again very fine and tasty. On your spoons!
Artisan baker: Biscuiterie Le Vinaillou, Artisan Biscuit Factory, Patrick Groneau.
For over 20 years, Patrick has been delighting us with his vinaillou (wine biscuit), a crunchy, delicate biscuit that is not too sweet and delicately flavoured with Cabernet d'Anjou (semi-dry rosé). Ideal at any time of day, for an aperitif or a gourmet coffee, and why not as a dessert to accompany the desserts in your Anjou gourmet basket.
Producers and gatherers of organic aromatic and medicinal plants: Les Cultivateurs en herbe, Jérôme Allain and Manon.
And to finish off the tasting of our Anjou gourmet basket, if for example you've slightly overindulged in these little Anjou wonders, there's nothing like a good herbal tea to soothe the body... And if it also brings the sweetness of Anjou..
We offer you Jérôme Allain's "herbs" (in their traditional appellation) - a real passion for his work - grown using agrobiology, certified by the Ecocert organization, and which also comply with a quality charter drawn up by Angevine producers.
The sweetness of the Angevine region, glorified by local poet Du Bellay, can also be enjoyed as an herbal tea! It's made from a dozen organic plants grown in Anjou.
Round and floral, with lemony and fruity notes, it has calming and digestive virtues, as well as being gentle and comforting. A true Anjou sweetness, we tell you!

Every month, we have our new gourmet boxes tested by independent testers (we don't pay them! We just send them one of our boxes), specialized in the world of gourmet boxes, to get external opinions (we'd obviously give them 10/10 every time...) and publicize our latest gourmet baskets, because we're proud of them, and we have to play the game of criticism...
The excellent results of our Ardennes gourmet box test on the Laboxdumois website: not bad!
