La Gourmet Box takes you to the Ardèche, a department that owes its name to the river of the same name that flows through it. Stretching from the high plateaus of the Auvergne to the Rhone Valley, the Ardèche is as diverse in its climates, terroirs and landscapes as it is in its gastronomy... High-quality wines with well-known AOCs and some of the most promising, the kingdom of chestnuts and valley fruits, the unmissable caillette and meats from extensive high-altitude livestock farms, and this list is just an introduction! An ardéchoix gourmet basket to be discovered as a matter of urgency!
Contents of our ardéchoix gourmet basket:
- Organic white wine Viognier, Ortu Solis, IGP Côteaux de l'Ardèche 2023 (75 cl).
- Organic aperitif biscuits with thyme and extra virgin olive oil (130 g).
- Tasty traditional country pâté with Chatus red wine (90 g).
- Typical Ardèchois pork caillettes with chestnuts (200 g).
- Fusilli organic dried pasta with Ardèche 20% chestnut flour (300 g).

An Ardeche gourmet basket filled with products from small, authentic producers from this magnificent region will take you on a journey of discovery of an extremely rich, varied and high-quality culinary production. The Ardèche is definitely a magnificent terroir!
Winemaker: Sébastien and Dimitri Arsac, Domaine Arsac.
Wine is an encounter made up of many little things, and the one we had with Sébastien won us over straight away! Together with his brother, they took over the family estate located in the Rhône Valley near Aubenas in the Ardèche, and have been running it with exacting standards (and passion!) in organic farming since 2014, taking advantage of the diversity of their terroir and the grape varieties they grow to offer us personal wines of great organoleptic richness.
For our Ardèche gourmet boxed set, we chose this magnificent Viognier, an emblematic grape variety of the region, a white wine partially aged in barrels and of very limited production that is often found on the region's finest tables...
Named Ortu Solis (Latin for "rising sun") because of the vine's exposure to the first ray of sunlight, and also because only fully ripe, east-facing bunches are harvested in successive passes over several days, this brilliant, almost golden-colored Viognier offers an astonishing range of aromas. The wine is full-bodied, unctuous and highly perfumed, with floral (rose) and fruity (apricot, white peach) notes enhanced by hints of wood and even chestnut!
A wine that will take you to the sun... and make you think, as we hope it will, that there's more to wine than Bordeaux and Burgundy! Food & wine pairing: seafood risotto, langoustines and scallops, as well as freshwater fish.
Serving temperature: cool but not too cool, between 10-12º C.
Artisan: Biscuiterie Papillon Bio, Ardèche.
Discovered recently, these breadstick-like cookies have really won us over: crunchy of course, ideal for savoring as a spread or to munch on when you're feeling a bit peckish, but above all, they taste wonderful. It's very rare to be able to give a real taste of thyme and good olive oil to a dry cake, and we tasted a lot of them.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Artisan-conserver: Conserverie Artisanale et Gastronomique Marc Sandevoir, Marc and Christine Sandevoir
It's always a pleasure to find a small, family-run business for our gift boxes, working with local produce in an artisanal way to concoct excellent recipes with no preservatives, colorants or additives.
We continue our Ardèche aperitif with their tasty, old-fashioned pâté de campagne made with Chatus, an ancient red wine grape variety now found almost exclusively in the Ardèche. It brings a unique flavor to our recipe, with a hint of civet and marinated meat... A pure delight made with truly local meat and wine!
Artisan-conserver: Conserverie Artisanale et Gastronomique Marc Sandevoir, Marc and Christine Sandevoir.
It's impossible to visit the Ardèche without trying caillette, a typical local dish originally concocted on the region's farms during the "tuade" of the pig.
Caillettes are traditionally made with minced pork and leafy vegetables (cabbage, chard, spinach...), but our artisan adds his own gourmet touch.
In his recipe, he uses local pork slaughtered in Aubenas, 25 km from his workshop. As for the vegetable leaves, he has chosen to replace them with chestnuts to evoke the Ardéchois terroir.
You can enjoy them lightly warmed in a frying pan for an aperitif or to accompany a green salad, but they'll be perfect with the chestnut pasta you'll find in your Ardéchois gourmet basket.
Farmer-craftsman: Olivier de Girolamo, Ferme de Grandos.
It wasn't until he was in his forties that Olivier returned to his parents' land to start farming. His idea: to make homemade pasta from his own durum wheat production (organic!). He offers several shapes (Tagliatelle, Fusilli, Rigatoni, Treccia, Conchiglie).
For this boxed set, we've selected for you the "Ardèche" version, pasta made with 20% chestnut flour (also organic...). This home-made pasta has a highly original flavor that will make you forget about industrial pasta.
A perfect accompaniment to caillettes, it can be eaten al dente, with just a drizzle of olive oil and a few shavings of Parmesan.
Beekeeper-artisan: Julien De La Rocca, Beekeeper
Our producer-beekeeper produces quality honeys in a preserved environment in the heart of the Ardèche... From the blossoming of the most iconic tree in the Ardèche valleys, the work of the bees, accompanied by our beekeeper, gives birth to this highly perfumed honey with a strong aromatic taste that leaves no one indifferent.
Harvested and jarred by Julien and naturally rich in antioxidants, this is a honey that immediately plunges you into the heart of the Ardéchois terroir!
Artisan-patissier: Minute Papillon, Biscuiterie Bio, Maud Paret.
We couldn't resist adding a second product from our artisan patissier based in Ribes, in the heart of the Ardèche. Organic chestnut flour is used as the base for these delicious cookies, whose taste and consistency are an unqualified success.
Be warned: they're terribly addictive!

Every month, we have our new gourmet boxes tested by independent testers (we don't pay them! We just send them one of our boxes), specialized in the world of gourmet boxes, to get external opinions (we'd obviously give them 10/10 every time...) and publicize our latest gourmet baskets, because we're proud of them, and we have to play the game of criticism...
The excellent results of our Ardèche gourmet box test on the Laboxdumois website: not bad!
